While the invite (via The Verge) says very little about the new Droid handsets the company has planned to unveil at the event, if recent leaks and rumours are to be believed, the forthcoming handsets could be the Droid Turbo 2 and the Droid Maxx 2. The former is a top-of-the-line handset while the latter is likely a mid-range handset.
As per previous reports, the Moto Droid Turbo 2 will sport a 5.43-inch QHD display (up from 5.2-inch QHD screen in the original Turbo), a Snapdragon 810 SoC (MSM8994) coupled with 3GB of RAM, and a storage option of 32GB and 64GB. Alongside a 21-megapixel rear camera, the Moto Droid Turbo 2 is said to have a 5-megapixel sensor. Also rumoured is a 3760mAh battery.
The same report also noted that the Droid Turbo 2 will support Moto Maker, company's program that allows users to customise the body and select the colour of the handset and back cover, among other things, as they deem fit.
Not much is known about the Droid Maxx 2, sadly. However, the handset was recently mentioned in a screenshot for Moto Email, a standalone email client that Motorola released this week on Google Play exclusively for its handsets. Previously, the smartphone had also been briefly listed on the Chromecast support page.
